Yoga for Sportspeople
Yoga focuses on strength, flexibility and endurance – all crucial considerations for sportspeople.
Through yoga, sportspeople can improve their performance by concentrating on their inner strength and creating a stronger, more agile body. This further enables movement to be effortless, and for the body to flow through the mechanics required for sport. National level sports teams have trained at The Yoga Room and have experienced first-hand the results.
Each personal teacher brings a different style to yoga and – especially for sportspeople – Trudy brings an energetic style. It’s pretty challenging and people tell us they are overwhelmed by the results, especially when they take it into the functional world and apply it to their sporting activities like running or cycling.
Get a group together (like your sports team) and we can put on a course tailor-made to your needs.

Yoga for Men
NEXT INTRODUCTION COURSE – DATE TO BE CONFIRMED
Yoga for men has a focus on helping men to experience a full-body, cardiovascular workout. Aiming to build strength, stamina and flexibility, men also learn to relax and de-stress.
Yoga for men has seen excellent results for assisting with body aches and pains – particularly helping with short and tight hamstrings, and tight or sore backs. Happy clients report improved recovery times in their sports, along with improved posture and a greater awareness of using their core to prevent injuries.
We were delighted to host Marlborough Express reporter Ian Allen to our class in 2012. We enjoyed hearing his comments that our yoga “stretches and poses have worked wonders for the whole class, including a five-lapper from this year’s Forrest Graperide. That’s 500 kilometres and yoga had actually helped with his riding, he said. That’s how effective yoga can be when applied to your sporting life or even your daily routine… so transformed are my fellow newbies, both physically and in terms of attitude, some want to sign up to a 6.30am class to continue their progress.” You can read Ian’s full article about his experience here
And another article urging men to try yoga at The Yoga Room can also be seen here
